Kevin S. Combs, DO, Lauded for Excellence in the Field of Medicine

Dr. Combs lends his considerable expertise to several institutions, including Tazewell County Medical Center, Divine Home Care and Legacy Hospice 

LEBANON, VA, March 8, 2021, Dr. Kevin Combs has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Driven to combine his undergraduate studies in psychology and pre-medicine, Dr. Combs earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004 after completing an Associate of Arts in psychology and pre-medicine from Pellissippi State Community College and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee. Upon graduating from medical school, he pursued a rotating internship and a residency in internal medicine through Norton Community Hospital, which he completed in 2008.

Supported by his extensive academic background, Dr. Combs began his professional career as an internal medicine primary care physician for Family Health Care Associates of Southwest Virginia, an osteopathic medical student and geriatrics clinical preceptor for Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and as chairman of medicine with Russell County Medical Center. Over the years, he gained valuable expertise in Russell County, Virginia, as a vice chief of staff nominee, secretary of the medical executive committee, electrocardiogram/stress lab supervisor physician, medical director of respiratory therapy and medical director of physical therapy. Additionally, he fostered a stellar reputation with Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in numerous directorial roles.

Drawing upon decades of professional excellence, Dr. Combs currently excels as clinic medical director for New Beginnings Pulmonary Rehabilitation, medical director of Divine Home Care, and associate medical director of Legacy Hospice. He also serves as the local medical examiner in the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Tazewell County, medical director and internal medicine primary care physician with Carilion Tazewell Veteran’s Affairs Clinic, and as a member of the board of directors for Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital. In light of his expansive knowledge, he also serves as an internal medicine assistant clinical preceptor for Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Combs is affiliated with several organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association and Psi Chi – The International Honor Society in Psychology, among myriad other organizations. In conjunction with his professional responsibilities, he gives back to his community through the Freedom Ministries Church and serves as a senior instructor with Oh Do Kwan Taekwondo, through which he received a first- and second-degree black belt. Looking ahead, Dr. Combs intends to pursue a managerial role in the civilian side of medicine in addition to his work with the VA clinic.
