Kevin S. Combs, DO, FACOI, LME | Medical Director of Veterans Affairs Clinic | Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital

Kevin CombsHailing from a family of physicians, Kevin S. Combs, DO, FACOI, LME desired to spearhead a career in medicine in his own right. Upon obtaining a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Pikeville in 2004, he flourished during a residency at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia. He also holds an Associate of Arts in psychology and pre-medicine from Pellissippi State Community College and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee. Today, Dr. Combs excels as the medical director of the veteran affairs clinic at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital, a role he commenced in 2018.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Combs served Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital as the chief of staff and an emergency room physician between 2014 and 2017. In the earlier years of his career, he worked at the Russell County Medical Center and Mountain State Health Alliance as a resident, chair of medicine, director of respiratory therapy and vice chief of staff. Dr. Combs has also offered his expertise as an assistant professor and clinical faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and associate medical director of Legacy Hospice.

To remain abreast of his industry, Dr. Combs maintains professional affiliation with the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and American College of Physicians. Attributing his success to his faith, he is a proud fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and National Dean’s List member. Looking toward the future, Dr. Combs wants to continue to further educate his community on complications of diabetes, as well as teach students and young adults how to live a healthy lifestyle and self-defense.
